Car Rental FAQ
1. What do I need to rent a car?
To rent a vehicle, customers must present a valid driver’s license, a credit or debit card in their name, proof of income such as recent bank statement or (2) pay stubs within the last 60 days. Customer must also provide proof of auto insurance or obtain insurance before The commencement of the rental. Select rentals may also be paid using Zelle or Cash App. A standard credit card deposit of $300 applies to most vehicles. For payments made via debit card, Zelle, or Cash App, a deposit equal to 1.5 times the base deposit amount will be required. Please note that all renters must meet the minimum age requirement and possess a clean driving record, subject to verification.
2. What is the minimum age to rent a car?
Our locations require renters to be at least 21 years old. Drivers under 25 are charged a $25/Day young driver fee.
3. Do I need a credit card to rent a car?
Premium rentals require a major credit card at the time of booking; however, debit cards are accepted for standard rentals with additional documentation and higher deposit requirements.
4. Can I rent a car with a foreign driver’s license?
Yes, international renters may use a valid driver’s license as long as it is written in the Roman alphabet. In some cases, an International Driving Permit (IDP) may also be required.
5. What types of cars are available for rent?
We offer a wide range, including economy, SUVs, luxury vehicles, vans, and trucks. Availability may vary by location.
6. Is insurance included in my rental?
Basic protection like Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is included for rideshare rentals. CDW & Additional insurance options are available during checkout if you don't have insurance. Certain vehicles require a personal full coverage policy to rent.
7. What if I already have car insurance?
If your personal or credit card insurance covers rentals, you may decline optional coverage. We Make sure to verify coverage before renting.
8. Are there any mileage limits?
Mileage allowances vary by rental. Most rentals include 200 miles per day. Some rentals include unlimited mileage if included, while others have daily mileage limits. Please review your rental terms carefully before confirming your booking. Optional mileage upgrades available.
9. Can I add another driver to the rental?
Yes! Additional drivers must meet the same requirements as the primary renter and be added at pick-up. A fee may apply.
10. What documents do I need at pickup?
Bring your driver’s license, credit/debit card, and booking confirmation. International renters may need a passport and IDP.
11. Can I return the car to a different location?
Yes, this is allowed between Lake Bluff, IL and Old Mill Creek, IL. A drop-off fee may apply and will be shown during booking.
12. What if I return the car late?
Late returns incur $100 late fee for most vehicles. Late payment Fees are $50 per day or more depending on vehicle until payment is made. Please contact us if you're running late.
13. Can I return the car after business hours?
Yes. Our locations offer after-hours return. Use the key Box and park in the designated area.
14. What fuel policy do you use?
All rentals follow a full-to-full fuel policy — vehicles must be returned with a full tank to avoid refueling charges. Prepaid fuel options are available for added convenience. Premium and performance vehicles require 93 octane premium fuel. Renters must provide fuel receipts at the time of return as proof of proper fueling. Failure to do so will result in a $250 improper fuel fee.
15. Are pets allowed in rental cars?
Yes, pets are allowed in standard rentals with prior approval and an additional deposit. The vehicle must be returned clean and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning or detailing fees. Please note that pets are not permitted in premium rentals under any circumstances.
16. Can I smoke in the rental car?
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles. A cleaning fee of up to $500 will apply if smoke is detected upon return.
17. What if the car breaks down or I have an accident?
The renter is responsible for any mechanical breakdowns that occur during the rental period and will be charged for any roadside services unless optional roadside assistance was purchased at checkout for $7 per day. If you have purchased roadside assistance through us, please contact our 24/7 support line immediately for assistance. In the event of an accident, you must also contact local authorities and file an official report.
18. Can I drive the rental car out of town or to another country?
Rentals are for local use only and must stay within A 100 mile Radius Of our office in Lake Bluff, IL unless approved prior.
Out-of-Town travel requires prior approval before vehicle pickup and is subject to a security deposit equal to three times the standard amount. International travel — including trips to Canada or Mexico — is strictly prohibited.
19. Is there a deposit required?
Yes, a security deposit is held during the rental period. The amount depends on the car type and payment method. deposit is returned if rental agreement isn't violated and there is no damages or incidentals that occur. any balances will be settled with deposit or payment card.
20. Can I modify or cancel my reservation?
Yes, most bookings can be modified or canceled online. While fees may apply depending on the rate and timing of the change, please note that we do not offer refunds. Instead, a rental credit will be issued upon cancellation, which is valid for 30 days from the cancellation date.
21. What happens if I return the car dirty or damaged?
Renters may be charged cleaning or damage fees of up to $500 or more. To avoid such charges, please return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was rented.
22. ARE Refunds issued for a Rental?
All sales, bookings, and reservation fees are final. Cancellations or early returns qualify for a rental credit valid for 30 days. Refunds are only issued if the reserved vehicle is unavailable at pickup and we are unable to provide a suitable replacement. Additionally, if a mechanical failure occurs due to our fault and no replacement vehicle can be provided, a full refund will be issued.
